Chancellor Goforth of Paso Robles Killed in Crash
PASO ROBLES, CA (April 7, 2020) – Chancellor Goforth, a resident of Paso Robles, was killed when the vehicle he was traveling in crashed early in the morning on Thursday in Napa. The April 2 incident occurred near Alston Park, on a private road off of Dry Creek Road.
The time was roughly 3:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say Goforth had been traveling in a vehicle along with another man, identified as Peter Onley, a resident of Napa 27 years old. The vehicle the two men were traveling in went off the roadway, down a slope, and plunged into an irrigation pond filled with water.
Responders found that the vehicle was sunk in the water and worked to reach and take Goforth out. They transported him to a hospital in the area where he was pronounced deceased. Goforth was 30 years old.
Onley had been able to exit the vehicle by himself. He was not hurt in the incident, according to reports.
According to the California Highway Patrol, neither Goforth nor Onley had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. Reports do not say which of the men had been the driver when the crash occurred.
Investigators are working to collect information to understand what factors contributed to the incident.
