Cement Truck Smashes Utility Pole in Paso Robles, Cutting Power to Hundreds

PASO ROBLES, CA (August 5, 2020) – On Tuesday morning in Paso Robles, close to 700 hundred customers of PG&E lost power when a truck smashed into a utility pole. The August 4 crash occurred on Ground Squirrel Hollow Road in the 5600 block, which was described as a private road.

The time was roughly 7:55 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Reports say the cement truck hit the pole, which came down along with power lines. Close to 700 customers lost power.

Crews from PG&E arrived on scene to repair the damage to the pole and lines.

The cement truck driver has not been identified in reports, including name, age, gender, and city of residence. It is not known if the person was hurt in the crash.

No details regarding the crash have been reported. Investigators are working to understand what factors contributed to the incident.
