Man Injured After Walking into Path of Vehicle in Pacific Beach
PACIFIC BEACH, CA (February 7, 2020) – On Thursday night, a pedestrian was struck and injured in Pacific Beach after walking into the path of a vehicle. The February 6 incident occurred on Grand Avenue in the 2000 block.
The time was roughly 7:00 p.m., Robert Heims said. Heims is an officer with San Diego Police.
Reports say the pedestrian had been walking along on the sidewalk and, for reasons that are not known, he walked in front of a vehicle that had been traveling on the road.
The vehicle—described as a Honda Accord—hit the man.
Responders arrived and transported the man to a hospital. The man suffered injuries that included a broken femur, pelvis, and other broken bones, reports say. According to Heims, the injuries were not thought to be life threatening.
The pedestrian was identified only as 65 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The driver remained at the incident site. The driver was identified only as 17 years old. The name, gender, and city of residence of the driver have not been reported.
Investigators are working to understand the circumstances of the crash.
