Driver Hits Pedestrian on Grand Avenue in Pacific Beach
PACIFIC BEACH, CA (May 18, 2020) – A driver struck and injured a pedestrian on Saturday in Pacific Beach. The May 16 incident occurred close to where Fanuel Street and Grand Avenue intersect.
The time was a little before midnight, according to San Diego Police.
Reports say the pedestrian dashed across the road, and a vehicle–described as a Ford Fusion, which had been westbound on Grand Avenue–hit him. According to investigators, the driver–who was proceeding on a light that was green for him–could not miss striking the man.
Responders arrived and transported the pedestrian to a hospital. The injuries he suffered include broken bones. According to Robert Heims, who is an officer with San Diego Police, the man does not have life-threatening injuries.
The injured man was identified only as 24 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The driver was identified only as 25 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are working on collecting information regarding the incident.
