Vehicle Strikes Man Walking Across Pleasant Valley Road in Oxnard, Causing Critical Injuries

OXNARD, CA (July 30, 2019) – A man who had been walking in Oxnard on Thursday night was hit by a vehicle, causing him critical injuries. The August 1 incident occurred where Cypress Road and Pleasant Valley Road intersect.

The time was roughly 8:50 p.m., according to Oxnard Police.

Reports say the man had been crossing Pleasant Valley Road within a crosswalk. A vehicle—described as a Honda Accord—which had been heading west on Pleasant Valley road hit him.

According to reports, a person who witnessed the incident told police it seemed that the man who was walking across the road was doing so on a light that was red for him. It appeared to the witness that the vehicle had a light that was green.

Responders arrived and transported the victim to VCMC. His condition was described as critical, and the types of injuries he suffered have not been reported. He was identified only as a resident of Oxnard, 29 years old. His name has not been reported.

The person who had been driving the vehicle involved in the incident remained at the accident site and cooperated with the investigation. The driver was identified only as 81 years old. The person’s name, gender, and city of residence have not been reported.

Investigators are working on understanding the circumstances of the crash by continuing to gather facts and information.
