OXNARD, CA (October 17, 2019) – On Wednesday, the Ventura County Medical Examiner reported that William Engbrecht died from injuries he suffered in a crash in Oxnard on Saturday. The October 12 incident occurred on Channel Islands Boulevard.
Reports say Engbrecht had been heading east on Channel Islands Boulevard in a pickup truck, and while trying to turn to the left to Statham Boulevard, he collided with a vehicle that was going west on Channel Islands Boulevard.
Responders transported Engbrecht to VCMC for treatment. According to authorities, he died days later from his injuries. Engbrecht was 90 years old and a resident of Port Hueneme.
The driver of the other vehicle was identified as a man 22 years old and a resident of Oxnard. Reports say the driver suffered injuries that were described as minor. He received treatment at the scene and was released, reports say.
Investigators are continuing to collect details and information to understand the circumstances of the incident.
