Man Killed in Downtown Oxnard as a Result of Traffic Accident or Homicide
OXNARD, CA (September 24, 2018) – A man killed early Sunday morning in downtown Oxnard may have died as a result of a traffic accident or a homicide. The September 23 incident occurred roughly at 2:35 a.m.
Oxnard Police arrived on scene at Fifth Street and Meta Street in the downtown area. Officers found the victim—identified as a man 23 years old—had suffered serious injuries.
Responders took the man to the hospital, but he died later. According to police, the victim had been involved in an argument that took place in the intersection. He was then hit and run over by an SUV that was described as white in color, and an older model. The driver fled from the accident scene.
Investigators are looking into details to determine who engaged in the argument with the victim, and who drove the vehicle that struck him, and if they are the same person.
