One Person Killed and One Person Injured in Oildale Hit-and-run Crash
OILDALE, CA (April 24, 2019) – Ariana Nicole Treece was killed and David Joe Bingham was severely injured in a crash in Oildale on Sunday night. The April 21 incident occurred on Sequoia Drive.
The time was roughly 8:28 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle—described as a Jeep Wrangler—had been heading east on Woodrow Avenue. The Jeep stopped where a stop sign is located at the Sequoia Drive intersection.
The Jeep traveled into the intersection. Bingham and Treece had been traveling north on Sequoia Drive at a fast speed on a dirt bike when they hit the Jeep. The bike hit the Jeep’s front end, and the impact threw the two riders from the vehicle.
Bingham, who had been driving the dirt bike, hit the road’s dirt shoulder. Treece, who had been a passenger on the bike, struck the curb by the shoulder and a metal post. Reports say both the riders had been wearing helmets at the time of the crash. Treece was killed. She was 22 years old. Bingham, 40 years old, was severely injured.
The person who had been driving the Jeep left the accident site and, according to the California Highway Patrol, abandoned the Jeep some time later. Investigators found the Jeep in an alley in an area to the north of Lincoln Avenue, near Hurley Avenue and to the west of it.
California Highway Patrol described the Jeep’s driver as a caucasian male. Investigators are looking for the driver. If anyone has information about the incident, he or she should call the California Highway Patrol. The number is 661-396-6600.
