Honda Crashes Off State Route 78; Lands on Tesla on College Blvd. in Oceanside, Killing Woman
OCEANSIDE, CA (September 14, 2020) – On Saturday afternoon, a crash in Oceanside killed a woman. The September 12 incident occurred on State Route 78, and on College Boulevard.
The time was roughly 3:00 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
A vehicle–described as a Honda Accord–had been traveling on the Vista Way on-ramp to State Route 78 west. For reasons that are not known, the driver–identified as a woman, 70 years old–lost control of the vehicle.
The Honda went off the roadway and went into a structure that supports the bridge on Route 78 in that area. The Honda then fell and crashed onto a vehicle–described as a Tesla–that had been traveling on College Boulevard and going north.
The Honda came to a stop on College Boulevard, landing upside down.
Responders arrived to help , but the Honda’s driver died at the crash site. She was identified as a resident of Oceanside. Her name has not been reported.
According the the California Highway Patrol, two people who had been traveling in the Tesla were not hurt. Their identities have not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work on the crash details.
