NEWHALL, CA (January 24, 2020) – Santiago Daniel Cabezas, Jr. was identified as the person who was killed in a crash on Highway 14 in Newhall early in the morning on Thursday. The January 23 incident occurred on the southbound side of the road, close to Sierra Highway and to the north of it.
The time was roughly 1:04 a.m., according to Officer Alcantar who is with the Newhall area office of the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say Cabezas died when the vehicle he was driving—described as a Honda Civic—smashed into the back end of a big rig that had been parked on the road’s right shoulder of the truck ramp.
Responders arrived and pronounced Cabezas deceased at the incident site. He was 19 years old, and a resident of Santa Ana.
Investigators are continuing their work of collecting details and information regarding the crash. If anyone has information about the incident, the person can call the Newhall area office of the California Highway Patrol. The number is 661-294-5540.
