Christopher Gonzolez was hit by a car and killed Wednesday morning as he was walking to take a bus to school.
His family wondered why it took so long for him to get medical attention.
He was hit by a Honda CRV at Clayton Rd and Detroit Avenue. Police say he ran against a red light.
Medics arrived at 6:57 a.m. Chris’ injuries were determined to be serious. The officials called a helicopter. By 7: 13 the helicopter still had not arrived. Officials planned to take Chris to a hospital in Oakland. He laid inside the ambulance for more than 15 minutes while they measured and marked the scene.
His family was interviewed in Spanish.
Christopher was a student at Oak Grove Middle School.
He died at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek some time before 11:00 a.m.
American Medical Response had no comment about the incident.
The Gonzalez family has not received an explanation from officials.
Christopher is survived by a large extended family.
