A Huntington Beach man accused of driving on a suspended license and causing critical injuries to another driver, pleaded not guilty last week.
According to the police, the man was speeding on the 22 freeway in his Volkwagen Jetta when he rear-ended a Nissan Pulsar. The Nissan then shot forward across the freeway and crashed into the center divider. The driver suffered severe brain damage and had to be taken to the hospital for critical injuries.
The driver of the Jetta then exited the freeway, parked his car in a strip mall parking lot and called his wife for a ride home. Seven hours later he turned himself in at the California Highway Patrol’s Westminster Office.
The driver of the Nissan remains in a coma and critical condition. It is uncertain whether he will recuperate.
