5 Injured in 2-Car Crash Following Police Chase in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (August 31, 2024) – A police chase ended in a two-car collision that injured five people on Saturday afternoon on Spring Street near Elmyra Street in Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The incident occurred at 4:52 p.m. after officers attempted to pursue a gray BMW when they learned the driver was armed. The chase began at Soto Street and Michigan Avenue and continued until the BMW crashed into another vehicle in Chinatown, sending the second car into a nearby wall.
LAPD Are Asking Anyone With Any Information To Come Forward
Paramedics arrived minutes later to treat five individuals, who were reported to be in fair to moderate condition. The injured included a 40-year-old woman, two 18-year-old men, a 17-year-old boy, and a 16-year-old boy. Authorities have not clarified which of the victims were in the BMW.
Los Angeles police are asking anyone with additional information about the crash to come forward.
Residents are reminded to remain vigilant for reckless drivers who may speed, run red lights, or drive unpredictably, and to stay alert for emergency vehicles to avoid potential accidents.
