Wrong-way Crash Kills Two on 110 Freeway in Los Angeles’ Harbor Gateway Area
LOS ANGELES, CA (September 14, 2020) – Two people died in a crash involving a wrong-way driver early in the morning on Saturday in the area of Harbor Gateway in Los Angeles. The September 12 incident occurred on the 110 Freeway.
The time was roughly 4:12 a.m., according to Andrew Minor. Minor is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.
A vehicle was first reported to the California Highway Patrol traveling in the wrong direction in the area of El Segundo, going southbound in the lanes that head north.
When responders arrived at the crash site, they discovered two vehicles: an SUV and a sedan. One of the vehicles had rolled over. The other vehicle was located close to the onramp for 182 Street, fully burning on the overpass roughly four or five miles from the overturned vehicle.
According to Minor, the vehicles had major damage, and it is not yet known which vehicle had been going in the wrong direction.
Reports say the driver of each vehicle died. The identities of the people, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence, have not been reported.
Investigators are working to understand the crash’s circumstances.
