Possible Street-racing Crash Kills Driver in Los Angeles’ Exposition Park Area
LOS ANGELES, CA (November 13, 2020) – Early in the morning on Thursday, a driver died and a passenger was critically injured in possible street-racing crash in Los Angeles. The November 12 incident occurred in the Exposition Park area, on Figueroa Street close to Exposition Boulevard.
The time was roughly 12:10 a.m., according to Miguel Arana. Arana is a sergeant with Los Angeles Police.
A vehicle–described as a Range Rover, silver in color–had been going at a fast speed on Figueroa Street and heading south. The Range Rover went out of the driver’s control, and smashed into a curb and a palm tree.
Responders arrived and pronounced the driver deceased at the incident site. His identity has not been reported.
Responders transported a person who had been traveling as a passenger in the Range Rover to a hospital in the area. His condition was described as critical.
His identity has also not been reported. Reports say the two men’s ages are roughly between 20 and 30 years.
Investigators are working to gather information to discover if street racing had been a cause of the crash. They are looking for video from surveillance cameras that may have recorded the incident.
