Pedestrian Killed in South Los Angeles Hit-and-run in Broadway-Manchester Area
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 25, 2021) – A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a pedestrian on Wednesday in the Broadway-Manchester area of South Los Angeles. The February 24 incident occurred where Main Street and 88th Place intersect.
According to Aaron Ponce, who is a captain with Los Angeles Police, a vehicle, described as a Ford Ranger pickup truck, collided with another vehicle, described as a Toyota Camry. The pickup truck continued to travel after the crash, and hit a person who was on foot.
Three people who had been traveling in the pickup truck fled the crash site, reports say.
Responders arrived and pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene of the incident. The identity of the victim, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Reports say that according to Ponce, no one in the Toyota Camry was hurt in the crash. None of the people have been identified, including the driver. The exact number of occupants of the Toyota has not been reported.
Another vehicle–described as a Nissan Sentra–that was reported parked on the street in the vicinity of where the pedestrian had been hit, had a rear end that was damaged. Reports do not say if the Nissan was struck by the suspect hit-and-run driver’s vehicle.
The owner of the Nissan has not been identified.
Reports say bystanders attempted to ran after the people who fled from the pickup truck, but did not find them. The suspects were described as male.
Investigators are searching for the suspect driver, and the two passengers. If anyone has information about the crash, the person can call the Los Angeles Police Department. The number is 877-527-3247.
