Pedestrian Killed by 2 Hit-and-run Drivers in South-Central Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (July 20, 2020) – On Thursday night, a pedestrian was struck and killed by two hit-and-run drivers in South-Central Los Angeles. The July 16 incident occurred on Vernon Avenue, near Wall Street and to the east of it.
The time was roughly 10:30 p.m., according to Los Angeles Police.
The pedestrian had been walking on Vernon Avenue, reports say, and a vehicle–described as an SUV, light in color–hit him. The force of the crash threw the victim into the lanes on the eastbound side of Vernon Avenue.
A second vehicle–described as a Dodge Charger, light in color–struck him. Neither driver stopped to help the victim. Both drivers fled the incident site.
Responders arrived and transported the fatally injured man to a hospital in the area. He was pronounced deceased in the hospital. He was identified only as 49 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are searching for each of the hit-and-run drivers. Neither driver has.been described.
