Man Seriously Injured by Hit-and-run Driver in Florence Area of Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (December 17, 2019) – Jose Artega was hit and seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver late Friday night in South Los Angeles. The December 13 incident occurred on Central Avenue near 67th Street, in the neighborhood of Florence.
The time was roughly 11:30 p.m., according to Los Angeles Police.
Reports say Artega had been going across Central Avenue when a vehicle—described as possibly a Kia, dark in color, with four doors—which had been heading south, hit him. The driver did not stop to help Artega, but fled the incident site.
Responders arrived and took Artega to a hospital. He suffered injured which were described as critical.
Investigators are searching for the driver involved in the incident, and the vehicle. They are also searching for Artega’s family members.
