Hit-and-run Driver Surrenders to Police after Los Angeles Crash that Killed Pedestrian

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 18, 2020) – The driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in downtown Los Angeles turned herself in, according to Los Angeles Police. The crash occurred on Sunday morning on Broadway where it intersects with Seventh Street.

The time was 6:55 p.m., Los Angeles Police said.

According to authorities, the pedestrian had been going across Broadway in a crosswalk that is marked. A vehicle–described as a four-door–which had been traveling on Seventh Street and heading east, hit him. According to reports, the vehicle went through a light that was red, and struck the pedestrian.

The Los Angeles Police Department released video that captured the incident. It shows, reports say, the victim pushing a cart when he was struck.

The video, reports say, shows the suspect driver exit the car in the vicinity of the Spring Street and Seventh Street intersection to see where the car had been damaged. The driver re-enters the car, and leaves the area.

Responders arrived and transported the victim to a hospital nearby. He died from the injuries he suffered.

The victim’s identity, including his name and age, has not been reported.

On Tuesday, the driver turned herself in to authorities. She was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. Her identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.

Investigators are continuing their work on the incident.
