Hit-and-run Driver Kills Pedestrian on Normandy Avenue in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (August 28, 2019) – A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a pedestrian early in the morning on Wednesday in Los Angeles, in the neighborhood of Vermont Square. The August 28 incident occurred on Normandy Avenue close to West 51st Street.
The time was roughly 1:30 a.m., according to Elaine Morales. Morales is an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Reports say the pedestrian had been walking across Normandy Avenue, and a vehicle—which had been heading south on Normandy—hit him. The pedestrian was not walking within a crosswalk that is marked when he was struck.
The force of the impact sent the victim aloft, and he struck two vehicles that were parked on the street, according to Clarence Perkins. Perkins is an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Responders arrived and found the victim in between the two vehicles, according to Morales. The victim was pronounced deceased at the incident site.
The identity of the victim, including his name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to gather evidence in the crash. They are looking for the driver and the vehicle involved, neither of which has been described in reports.
