Driver Suspected of Hit-and-run and DUI Seriously Injures Pedestrian on West Martin Luther King Jr Blvd in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 3, 2019) – Early in the morning on Wednesday, a pedestrian was seriously injured by a driver suspected of hit-and-run and DUI in Los Angeles’ Vermont Square neighborhood. The October 2 incident occurred where South Budlong Avenue and West Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard intersect.

The time was roughly 6:00 a.m., according to Jon Pinto. Pinto is a captain with the Los Angeles Police Department.

Reports say the pedestrian had been walking in a crosswalk when the vehicle struck. The person driving the vehicle tried to leave the incident site, according to Pinto, but a witness followed the suspected hit-and-run driver.

Responders arrived and took the victim to a hospital in the area. The types of injuries the person suffered are not known. The victim’s condition was described as critical, according to Officer Chavez.

The victim was identified only as 50 years old. The name and city of residence of the victim has not been reported.

Police found the suspected driver, and arrested the person on hit-and-run and DUI. Her name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
