Driver of Suspected Stolen Vehicle Crashes in Baldwin Village, Injuring Two
LOS ANGELES, CA (June 17, 2020) – On Monday night, a driver fleeing police pursuit in a suspected stolen vehicle collided with another vehicle in Baldwin Village, injuring two people. The June 15 incident occurred where Marlton Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard intersect.
The time was roughly 10:30 p.m.
Reports say the suspected stolen vehicle hit another vehicle and then smashed into a tree.
According to reports, the driver of the vehicle that was struck by the suspected stolen vehicle–identified as Elder Zacarias–had been going through the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard intersection. The driver in the suspected stolen vehicle went through a light that was red, and hit the vehicle Zacarias was driving. According to reports, Zacarias indicated the woman had been driving at a fast speed.
Responders arrived and transported a person who had been in the suspected stolen vehicle to a hospital in the area. According to Drake Madison, who is an officer with Los Angeles Police, the victim was unconscious and not breathing.
The victim was identified as in her twenties. Her name and city of residence has not been reported.
Another occupant of the suspected stolen vehicle was transported to the hospital. The condition of the person is not known. The identity of the person has not been reported.
It is not known who had been driving the suspected stolen vehicle at the time of the crash. The identity of the owner of the vehicle has not been reported.
The vehicle Zacarias had been driving had damage to the front that was described as major. He, and a passenger who had been traveling with him, were not reported injured.
