Woman Identified as Crossing Guard Fatally Injured in Valley Glen Crash
LOS ANGELES, CA (September 18, 2019) – Delia Huerta Arrearan was identified as the crossing guard who had been struck while walking across the road in Valley Glen with a teenage girl. Arrearan suffered serious injuries, and died later.
Reports say Arrearan and a girl—aged 16—had been crossing Vanowen Street in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Valley Glen when a vehicle, which had been traveling eastbound, hit them at roughly 7:20 a.m.
Arrearan died later from her injuries. She was 57 years of age. She had been an employee with the Department of Transportation.
The current condition of the girl is not known.
According to David Delgado, who is a sergeant with the Los Angeles Police Department, the person who had been driving stayed at the site of the accident and cooperated with the investigation.
Investigators are continuing their work to understand the circumstances of the crash.
