Multiple Vehicles Collide in Long Beach on 91 Freeway; One Person Dies
LONG BEACH, CA (January 15, 2019) – Multiple vehicles collided early in the morning on Tuesday in Long Beach on the 91 Freeway. One person was killed in the crash. The January 15 accident occurred in the freeway’s westbound lanes.
The time was roughly 12:20 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say that multiple vehicles collided on the freeway, at a point near the interchange for the 710 Freeway, and to the east of it. One person died in the crash.
The person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence have not yet been reported. It is not known if the person had been a driver of one of the vehicles at the time of the crash, or traveling as a passenger.
The types of vehicles involved in the collision, including the exact number of vehicles, has not yet been reported. It is also not known from reports who was driving each vehicle, including the names, ages, gender, and cities of residence of the drivers. If anyone else had been traveling as passengers in any of the vehicles involved in the collision, it is not currently known from reports.
Officials closed all the lanes that travel westbound for a number of hours. Crews arrived on scene, and worked to clear the road of the wreckage. Reports do not yet say if anyone was injured in the crash, and if respondents took anyone to a hospital.
Investigators are examining the evidence and information to find out what led to, and caused, the collision. No other details have yet been reported.
