Man Dies from Injuries in Long Beach Hit-and-run Crash
LONG BEACH, CA (January 4, 2021) – On December 31, 2020, James Herbert Lee Jones, who was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Long Beach, died. The crash that fatally injured Jones occurred on Pacific Coast Highway close to Harbor Avenue on December 22, 2020.
The time was roughly 8:20 a.m., Long Beach Police said.
Jones had been walking within a crosswalk that is marked when a vehicle–described as a Honda Civic, blue in color–struck him. The person driving the vehicle did not stop to help Jones, but fled the crash site.
Responders transported Jones to the hospital. His injuries were fatal. Jones was a resident of Long Beach, 62 years old.
Investigators are searching for the vehicle involved, and the suspect driver, who has not been described. If anyone has information about the crash, the person can contact Kelsey Myers or Kevin Johansen, who are both detectives. The number is 562-570-7355.
