Hit-and-run Driver Critically Injures Skateboarder on Bellflower Boulevard in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA (November 30, 2018) – A person riding a skateboard in Long Beach was hit by a hit-and-run driver in the afternoon on Tuesday, and suffered critical injuries. The November 27 accident occurred on Bellflower Boulevard near 27th Street.
The time was roughly 1:45 p.m., Nancy Pratt said. Pratt is a spokesperson for the Long Beach Police Department.
According to reports, the skateboarder was traveling across Bellflower Boulevard and heading east when he was hit.
Responders arrived on scene and found the skateboarder—identified as a man—lying in the street. He was transported to a hospital. His condition was described as critical. His name, age, and types of injuries he suffered have not yet been reported.
Jason Lehman, who is a spokesperson for the Long Beach Police Department, said detectives had located the suspect. The suspect was identified as a woman 86 years old and a resident of Lakewood. Police had impounded the vehicle that was alleged to have been used in the accident.
