Crash in Lakeside on Willow Road Kills Two Teenaged Boys
LAKESIDE, CA (January 15, 2020) – A crash in Lakeside on Saturday night killed two teenaged boys. The January 11 incident occurred on Willow Road, near Ashwood Street and to the east of it.
The time was roughly 10:45 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say four sixteen-year-olds had been traveling in a pickup truck, one of whom was the driver. For reasons that are not known, the vehicle went out of the driver’s control, swerved off the roadway, and struck a tree.
The driver died at the incident site. He was not identified by authorities, but reports say he was identified by friends as Justin.
Responders transported a boy who had been traveling in the passenger seat in front of the pickup to Sharp Memorial Hospital. According to reports, he suffered injuries that were described as major.
Authorities have not identified the boy, but reports say friends identified the victim as Isaac. According to reports, the victim was on life support in order that organs could be donated.
Both boys were residents of El Cajon.
Two other teens—identified as a girl and boy, both residents of Lakeside—had been traveling in the backseat. Responders transported them to the hospital.
They suffered injuries that were described as moderate. Their current condition is not known. Their names have not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to work on understanding what factors contributed to the crash.
