Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Route 125 in La Mesa
LA MESA, CA (January 16, 2020) – Everett Burgess was identified as the motorcyclist who died after crashing into vehicles in La Mesa on Tuesday morning. The January 14 incident occurred on State Route 125, close to where Spring Street is located.
The time was roughly 7:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say Burgess had been riding a Suzuki motorcycle in the northbound lanes, and going at a fast speed while splitting lanes among the stop-and-go traffic. According to reports, the motorcycle collided in a sideswipe with another vehicle—described as a Dodge Challenger.
The motorcycle then struck another vehicle, described as a Toyota Corolla, and fell on the road. The impact from the crash threw Burgess from the motorcycle.
Responders transported the injured man to San Diego’s Sharp Memorial Hospital. He died from his injuries in the hospital, according to the medical examiner. Burgess was 31 years old, and a resident of Lemon Grove.
The drivers of the other vehicles involved in the incident have not been identified. It is not known if anyone else was hurt in the crash.
