Two People Die on Highway 41 Head-on Collision Near Kettleman City
KETTLEMAN CITY, CA (September 7, 2018) – Two people died Thursday in a head-on collision on Highway 41 close to Kettleman City, California Highway Patrol said.
The crash occurred roughly in at the halfway point between the Reef City crossroads and Kettleman City, a bit south of Utica Avenue.
The time was roughly 3:30 p.m.
One of the vehicles—a Dodge Ram pickup, dark gray in color—was heading south on Highway 41. It then swerved into the lane where another vehicle—described as a white GMC—was heading north, Officer Schuh said.
Two people—the driver and a passenger–who had been traveling in the GMC died. Two other people who had been traveling in the backset were injured. Their injuries were described as minor.
Responders took the person who had been driving the Ram to a hospital. The Ram’s driver’s condition was described as critical.
The identities of the people involved in the accident have not yet been reported.
Investigators are looking into what caused the crash.
