Irvine Police Vehicle and Car Collide at Irvine Center Drive and Yale Avenue, Injuring Two
IRVINE, CA (February 10, 2020) – An Irvine Police patrol vehicle and a car collided in an intersection in Irvine, injuring the officer and the other driver. The incident occurred where Irvine Center Drive and Yale Avenue intersect.
Reports say the patrol vehicle had been en route to respond to a crime in progress, and its lights were illuminated and sirens activated. The patrol vehicle was heading east on Irvine Center Drive.
A vehicle—described as a Toyota Prius—had been heading north on Yale Avenue. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, with the patrol vehicle’s front colliding with the Prius on its left side.
Responders arrived and worked to free the driver who was trapped in the wrecked car.
Responders transported each driver to Orange County Global Medical Center, according to the California Highway Patrol. The condition of each person is not known, nor the types of injuries each person suffered.
The identities of the two people have not been reported.
