Party Bus Erupts in Flames While Traveling 405 Freeway in Irvine
IRVINE, CA (January 2, 2020) – Late in the afternoon on New Year’s Eve, a party bus that was traveling on the 405 Freeway erupted in flames in Irvine. The December 31 incident occurred while the bus was moving, reports say, but the bus driver was able to pull over to the road’s shoulder.
The time was roughly 4:05 p.m.
Reports say 25 people had been onboard when the incident occurred. For reasons that are not known, the bus caught on fire. According to reports, everyone on the bus was able to exit the vehicle.
When responders from the Orange County Fire Authority arrived, the bus was fully engulfed, according to reports. The firefighters extinguished the fire.
It is not known if anyone was hurt in the incident. None of the passengers have been identified, including name, age, gender, and city of residence. The person who had been driving the bus has also not been identified, nor has the owner of the bus.
Investigators are working to understand what caused the fire. They are continuing their efforts to collect details and information.
