Details have been surfacing on Iron Chef Cat Cora’s DUI from last month. Famously known for her culinary skills and TV personality, a bit of bad press has now been added to Cat Cora’s portfolio. On Sunday, June 17, Cora was cited for driving under the influence in Santa Barbara and has her arraignment scheduled for July 26.

Cora rear-ended a 2001 BMW 325i when she was driving her 2007 Chevy Tahoe. This fender bender has now sparked the whirlwind of press and publicity.  After Cora had hit the driver in front of her, the BMW driver said that Cora appeared to be intoxicated. When cops arrived on the scene, a breathalyzer test revealed Cora’s blood level to be about 0.19. Keep in mind that the legal limit is 0.08%. The star also caused a minor traffic accident when she hit the BMW on the intersection of State and La Cumbre.

When asked about her alcohol intake, Cora claimed she only had three beers from a nearby bar called Cold Spring Tavern. Whether or not it was three beers or more, if drinking three beers can make your blood alcohol level to double the legal limit, then you should not be driving. Thankfully, no one got hurt because of Cora’s careless error in believing she was okay to drive.

The mishap happened during a Sunday evening at 6:15 p.m. The timing of the incident raises questions of why Cora had decided to become intoxicated so early in the morning. There have been speculations that Cora had been arguing with her partner right before she got into the car and drove.

The 45-year old can be watched on Food Network’s “Iron Chef America” and Bravo’s “Around the World in 80 Plates.” Also, Cora is known for the three cooking books she has written. She is also the mother of four, raising the children with Jennifer Cora, her longtime partner.

The famous chef released a statement on Tuesday morning, July 10 through her publicist. In the statement, Cora expresses her regret for the decisions she chose to take. She went on to say that she had learned a lesson from this incident and is willing to take the responsibility of her actions. She ends her statement by saying it will never happen again.

Her issued statement seems sincere enough but only time will tell on whether it will happen again or not. DUI accidents are to be taken seriously. There is a zero tolerance policy on drunk driving and police men are cracking down everywhere to prevent any alcohol-related driving accidents.
