Below is a list of some of the hot picks from Tokyo’s 2015 Motor Show.
Rumors of a new Mazda rotary engine have been circulating but were difficult to believe. Mazda’s RX-Vision Concept car is a long, sleek, exciting verification of the rumors that proved Mazda’s worth as a car manufacturer.
When the RX-8 was cancelled, a new rotary engine was doubtful because of design difficulties involving fuel consumption and emissions in view of Mazda’s small structure.
Lexus has come up with a larger, more emphatic version of its previous model in its LF FC which had a spindle grille. The lines are more more sophisticated and refined.It offers a “peak grille”. It has a large grille, taking over most of the front of the car. The car is the preview of cars to come.
Suburu has introduced a new Impreza “concept car”, one of many that it have been rolled out, as a preview of cars to come. The car is an indication of the cars that will be forthcoming in years to come. Hopefully the design will not be altered substantially so as to be less exciting than this model. The WRX is no longer an Impreza. It came out looking great but failed to impress as it left production.
Nissan has introduced an autonomous futuristic car as a preview of cars to be produced in future years. The Leaf EV has a larger battery and is being introduced to the marketplace as an autonomous car. It has a steering wheel which will flip out of the way and a tablet hid behind the wheel, although this feature may not make it to production.
Mercedes Benz has developed an autonomous van, the Vision Tokyo concept. In this van, seating possibilities are opened up as the elimination of the driver’s seat makes room for a couch where passengers can visit and talk while the van is driving them through traffic.
