A Recreation and Park employee driving a truck is accused of committing a hit and run, killing a 35 year old woman named Christine Svenemyre of Daly City. Thomas Burnoski, 58 is facing the felony charges of vehicular man slaughter. The accident happened September 5, 2013. Mr. Burnoski is set to return to court April 16, 2014.
Ms. Svenemyre was said to have been lying on the grass in the park with her infant child. The child was unhurt.
Mr. Burnoski has been a gardener for the Recreation and Park Department since 2006. It is reported that it was necessary for his supervisor to convince him to return to the scene.
Mr. Burnoski pleaded not guilty in October of 2013.
Jonathan Burnoski, 19, Mr. Burnoski’s son, was arrested on an apparent hit and run while returning from Thomas’ hearing.
Burnoski’s 20 year old daughter was killed in April in an auto accident. The other driver was said to have been asleep at the wheel.
Bail was set for Mr. Burnoski. A preliminary hearing was set for Wednesday, April 16, 2014.
