Vehicle Plunges off Highway 1 Cliff Near Gorda, Killing One Person
GORDA, CA (April 7, 2020) – On Sunday morning in Monterey County, a vehicle plunged off a Highway 1 cliff, killing one person. The April 5 incident occurred near Gorda and to the south of it.
The time was roughly a little before 10:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say a vehicle, for reasons that are not known, went off the roadway and plunged approximately 100 to 125 feet. According to reports, at least one person died. It is not clear, however, if other victims were hurt in the incident.
The identity of the person who died has not been reported, including name, age, gender, and city of residence.
Responders worked to recover the vehicle. No details are known from reports what circumstances and factors contributed to the crash. Investigators are working to gather information and details in order to understand the incident.
