Two-vehicle Collision on Highway 1 Sends Car Off Road, Igniting Brush Fire Near Gaviota
GAVIOTA, CA (May 6, 2019) – Two vehicles collided on Highway 1 in the morning on Saturday in Santa Barbara County, causing one of the vehicles to travel off the road and ignite a brush fire. The May 4 accident occurred close to the on ramp for Highway 1 southbound near Gaviota.
The time was before 7:00 a.m.
Reports say two vehicles—described as a car and an SUV—collided. The vehicles have not been described. The impact sent the car off the road, where it caused a brush fire to ignite. According to the California Highway Patrol, the fire began to spread rapidly.
