Crash at Haster Street and Chapman Ave in Garden Grove Injures Four

GARDEN GROVE, CA (October 27, 2020) – On Monday afternoon in Garden Grove, a crash involving three vehicles–one of which was a police vehicle–injured four people. The October 26 incident occurred where Haster Street and Chapman Avenue intersect.

The time was roughly a little before 3:00 p.m., Carl Whitney said. Whitney is a lieutenant with Garden Grove Police.

The police officer had been traveling on Chapman heading east, and went into the intersection when the light was green, reports say. A vehicle–which has not been described–went into the intersection when the light was red. According to reports, it collided with the police vehicle.

The force of the collision sent the police vehicle spinning, and it smashed into a third vehicle, which has also not been described. Three people were occupants of the third vehicle.

Responders arrived and transported four people who had been involved in the crash to a hospital. All were reported to have suffered injuries that were described as minor.

The identity of the officer has not been reported.

The identity of the driver who is suspected of proceeding on a red light has not been reported. The person was not hurt in the crash.

The person driving the third vehicle in the crash was identified only as a woman. Her name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.

Her two passengers included a girl, 16 years old; and a toddler. The occupants of the third vehicle suffered minor injuries, according to reports.

Investigators are continuing their work regarding the incident.
