Car Crashes into Fullerton Building; Two People Injured
FULLERTON, CA (February 27, 2019) – Two people were injured when the car they were traveling in crashed into a building early in the morning on Wednesday in Fullerton. The February 27 accident occurred close to Brookhurst Street and West Orangethorpe Avenue.
The time was roughly 2:40 a.m.
Reports say that the vehicle had struck the building and entered into it for some distance. A fire erupted. According to Mike Mecham, who is a battalion chief with Fullerton and Brea Fire Departments, respondents arrived on scene and found the victims outside of the vehicle. Responders transported the two injured people to a hospital.
The identities of the victims, including their names, ages, and cities of residence have not been reported. It is not known what types of injuries they suffered, or their current condition.
According to a witness, Bryan Zibas, the car had been traveling very fast before it went out of control. Zibas said the car fishtailed, and hit the building. He pulled a victim—identified as female—from the car, he said.
Investigators are looking into the crash’s details. According to reports, the car was able to travel as far as it did into the building because the building did not have a lot of “structural components”. It is not clear from reports if the fire erupted from the building or from the car.
