Carport in Fountain Valley Burns, Damaging 40 Vehicles and Displacing Residents
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA (July 15, 2019) – Early Saturday morning, a carport in Fountain Valley caught fire and damaged roughly forty vehicles. The July 13 fire, which occurred at 10275 Slater Avenue at The Havens apartment complex, also displaced residents.
The time was roughly 2:40 a.m., according to Bill Hughes. Hughes is a sergeant with the Fountain Valley Police.
Reports say firefighters responded from Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa, and Huntington Beach. The carport was fully burning when responders arrived, according to Hughes. Crews worked for roughly a half hour before the fire was extinguished.
Approximately 40 vehicles were damaged in the fire. A number of families could not go back into their apartments because of fire damage. It is not known from reports how many residents were affected.
No details are known from reports on what caused the fire. Investigators are working to gather and understand the facts, details, and evidence to find out why the fire happened.
