Vehicle Strikes Tree in Fontana, Critically Injuring Driver; Witness Suffers Minor Injury
FONTANA, CA (October 31, 2019) – In the afternoon on Saturday, a vehicle crashed into a tree at high speed in Fontana, critically injuring the driver. Rose Walker, who witnessed the incident, suffered minor injury in the October 26 incident.
Reports say the vehicle—described as a Honda CRV—had been going as fast as 100 miles per hour, according to people who witnessed the incident. The vehicle went airborne, smashed into a tree roughly 8 to 10 feet off the ground, and split in half on Banana Avenue in the 11800 block.
The time was roughly 6:00 p.m.
A witness—identified as Rose Walker—said she had been in her driveway washing her vehicle and saw the Honda traveling toward her. According to Walker, she had been fewer than 20 feet from where the vehicle hit the tree.
The force the crash sent her to fall backward against her own vehicle, where she was reported to have suffered minor injuries.
Responders arrived and took the driver to the hospital. He was identified only as 21 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported. The types of injuries he suffered have not been reported.
Investigators are working to understand what circumstances contributed to the incident.
