Fontana Head-on Crash on Valley Boulevard Kills Woman; DUI Suspect Arrested
FONTANA, CA (March 8, 2021) – Early in the morning on Sunday in Fontana, a woman died after a head-on crash involving a driver suspected of DUI. The March 7 incident occurred on Valley Boulevard close to Cypress Avenue.
The time was roughly a little before 1:50 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
A vehicle–described as a Chevrolet Colorado–had been traveling in the wrong direction on Valley Boulevard, reports say, and collided head-on with a Toyota Corolla.
The impact threw a woman who had been traveling as a passenger out of one of the vehicles and onto the road.
Responders arrived and transported the woman to the hospital. She died in the hospital.
She was identified only as a resident of Cathedral City, 24 years old. Her name has not been reported.
It is not clear from reports which vehicle the victim had been traveling in. She was not restrained when the crash happened, reports say.
Three people in the Toyota suffered injuries that ranged from minor to moderate. The identities of the three people have not been reported. They were described as the driver and two passengers.
The person who had been driving the Chevrolet suffered injuries that were described as minor. Responders took her to the hospital.
Authorities later arrested her on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and DUI. She was identified as Dina Mariesol Mora Martinez, a resident of Adelanto, 34 years old.
