Lake Perris, CA – An accident involving two vehicles leaves one person dead and a car on fire Saturday morning.

A Mazda sedan stopped for a red light at Evans Rd. was rear ended by a Land Rover SUV. The SUV was traveling eastbound on Ramona Expressway. Police responded to the accident at about 6:15 a.m.
Once rescue arrived, they found the vehicle engulfed in flames and the woman inside deceased. She was transported to the coroner’s facilities.
The intersection was closed for eight hours. Cal-Fire Riverside County Department extinguished the vehicles flames. The driver of the SUV was transported to Regional County Regional Medical Center where he was treated for injuries.
Police continue to investigate the accident. The driver may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
