Truck Falls 500 Feet Off Angeles Crest Highway; Airlift Used for Victims
FALLING SPRINGS, CA (March 5, 2019) – A truck fell over the Angeles Crest Highway in the morning on Monday, plunging 500 feet down the mountain. The March 4 accident occurred close to the Charlton Flats Picnic Area, and to the south of it.
The time was roughly 6:45 a.m.
Reports say that all the people involved in the incident survived. According to Mike Leum, who is a team member of search and rescue, another vehicle—in addition to the truck—went off the Angeles Crest Highway, also in the morning on Monday. Leum said six people total were involved in the incidents, and two victims were airlifted. One person who had been traveling in the truck that went over was airlifted. Reports say the other four occupants of the truck did not want treatment.
It is not clear from reports if the incidents involving the two vehicles were related, or separate incidents. The identities of the people involved in the incident, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence have not been reported. The identities of the drivers have not been reported.
Investigators are looking through the evidence and information to find out what caused the accidents. No other details are available currently.
