Hit-and-run Driver Strikes and Kills Woman in Encino

ENCINO, CA (October 17, 2018) – A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a woman in Encino on the weekend. Reports say the victim—identified as Yana Lavrentev, a 30 year old—had been out with her husband and friends prior to the crash.

According to her husband, Evgeny, his wife was walking in a crosswalk that is marked on Ventura Boulevard, close to Louise Avenue. When Yana walked into the crosswalk, a vehicle hit her.

According to a witness, identified in reports as Yaroslava Markova, the accident occurred very fast, too fast for them to react.

The driver did not stop for a red light, witnesses say, and did not brake either before the collision happened, or after the vehicle struck the victim. Witnesses said the vehicle could be a silver 1996, or early 2000 Toyota 4-Runner.

Monday evening, Yana died in the hospital from injuries she suffered.
