Speeding Car Smashes Multiple Vehicles Parked on Akins Avenue in Encanto

ENCANTO, CA (June 27, 2019) – A speeding car smashed into multiple vehicles that were parked on the street in Encanto late at night on Wednesday. The June 26 incident occurred on Akins Avenue in the 6500 block.

The time was roughly 11:30 p.m., according to San Diego Police.

Reports say people witnessed a vehicle—described as a Dodge Charger, white in color—moving at roughly 90 miles per hour. The Dodge smashed the rear end of multiple vehicles. One vehicle—described as a van—was struck with such force it overturned, according to reports.

After the collisions, reports say, some people saw a man who was hurt and bleeding, sitting on the ground close by. Responders treated the man’s injuries. Reports say the man told police he was not the person who was driving.

The types of injuries the man suffered, and his current condition are not known. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported. It is not clear from reports if the man had been struck by a vehicle.

People who witnessed the incident explained to police that a second vehicle left the incident site at a fast speed. Debris was dragged beneath the vehicle as it left.

Investigators are looking into the details, information, and evidence to understand what unfolded. None of the owners of the vehicles that were struck have been identified.
