EL CAJON, CA (July 16, 2018) – A crash with a vehicle injured a bicyclist in El Cajon Monday evening. The accident happened where North 2nd Street and Pepper Drive intersect. The time was 10:28 p.m.
California Highway Patrol says the cyclist was riding on Pepper Drive, heading eastbound. A Ford F-150, that was traveling on Second Street heading north, hit the cyclist from the right.
The impact threw the bicyclist from his bike. The victim, who was described as 40 years old, suffered serious injuries. Responders took him to Sharp Memorial Hospital. His condition was described as critical.
The man who was driving the vehicle, described as 60 years old, remained at the accident scene. The report says the driver gave aid to the injured bicyclist. The driver was cooperating with the investigation.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the accident.
