Bicyclist and Vehicle Collide in El Cajon, Severely Injuring Rider
EL CAJON, CA (March 26, 2019) – A bicyclist and a vehicle collided Saturday night in El Cajon, seriously injuring the cyclist. The March 23 accident occurred in the area of Cuyamaca Street and Fletcher Parkway.
The time was roughly 6:25 p.m.
Reports say the bicyclist—identified as a woman in her 40s—had been riding in the crosswalk of Cuyamaca Street when the light was red. A vehicle—described as a Chevrolet SUV—that had been heading west on Fletcher Parkway, hit her.
Respondents arrived and transported the victim to a trauma center in the area. She suffered injuries that were major, according to Jason Taub. Taub is a lieutenant with the El Cajon Police. The woman’s name and city of residence have not been reported. Her current condition is not known.
The person who had been driving the vehicle, identified as a man 53 years old, remained at the accident site and cooperated with the investigation. The name and city of residence of the driver has not been reported.
