Driver Involved in Multiple Crashes During Police Pursuit Enters Home in Diamond Bar
DIAMOND BAR, CA (July 30, 2019) – A driver who had been involved in multiple crashes during a police pursuit ended up walking into a stranger’s home in Diamond Bar. The July 31 incident encompassed two counties, with a final crash occurring in Diamond Bar on the 57 Freeway.
Reports say two people—a woman and a man—had been traveling in a sedan, and fleeing police. It is not known from reports why the two people were fleeing, and reports do not say what initiated the police chase. The woman was believed to be the driver, according to reports.
The fleeing vehicle went into Los Angeles County and Orange County sometime before 8:00 p.m. According to reports, at times the fleeing vehicle reached speeds over 100 miles per hour.
At one point, the vehicle traveled on the northbound side of the 57 Freeway, and is reported to have been involved in multiple collisions near the area of Diamond Bar. After the collision, which involved possibly three vehicles, the woman and man left the sedan. Reports say the man raised his arms immediately, prior to the arrival of authorities.
The woman was reported to have run away from the accident site, going along the shoulder of the freeway and into a neighborhood where she allegedly attempted to enter a number of houses. She ran into a house’s backyard located in Diamond Bar on Crooked Creek Drive.
The woman was apprehended at the house and taken into custody. Her identity, including her name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported. The identity of the man who had been traveling with her has also not been reported.
None of the other vehicles that were involved in the crash have been described, and none of the other drivers have been identified. It is not known if anyone was injured in the incident.
Investigators are working on the gathering of facts and evidence regarding the incident.
