Man Killed in Costa Mesa Crash in Home Depot Parking Lot
COSTA MESA, CA (June 25, 2020) – Juan Martinez Hernandez was identified by the coroner’s office as the person who was killed in a crash on Tuesday in Costa Mesa in a Home Depot parking lot. The June 23 incident occurred at 2300 Harbor Boulevard.
The time was roughly a little before 12:00 p.m., according to Costa Mesa Police.
Reports say Hernandez and another person were struck by a vehicle–described as a pickup truck–near the lumber area of the Home Depot store, located outside. Hernandez and the other victim had been pedestrians when the crash occurred.
Responders arrived and transported Hernandez and the other victim to a hospital. Hernandez was pronounced deceased in the hospital. He was 49 years old.
The other victim suffered injuries which have not been described. His current condition is not known. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The person who had been driving the pickup truck cooperated with investigators. The identity of the driver has not been reported.
Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened. They are in the process of collecting details and information.
