Big Rig Spills Gravel on 91 Freeway After Colliding with Car in Corona
CORONA, CA (May 12, 2020) – A big rig spilled gravel onto the 91 Freeway in the morning on Friday after colliding with a car in Corona. The May 9 incident occurred on the westbound side of the freeway, near Maple Street and to the east of it.
The time was roughly a little before 7:00 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say a big rig and a car–described as a sedan–collided, and the truck overturned. The manner in which the crash happened has not been described.
Reports also say other vehicles were impacted in the crash, but it is not clear if they collided or were forced to stop because of the route being blocked.
The driver of each vehicle has not been identified, including name, age, gender, and city of residence. It is not known if anyone had been traveling as a passenger in the vehicles that crashed.
The subsequent vehicles that may have been involved in the crash have not been described. Reports do say if anyone was hurt in the incident.
Gravel spilled on the road, and crews worked to clean the area before traffic could resume. Investigators are working to collect information to understand why the crash happened.
